Greetings Rancho Pico Families,
The California Healthy Youth Act (as a result of legislation from Assembly Bill 329) requires that comprehensive sexual health education and HIV prevention education be taught to all students during their 7th grade year. As a result, in collaboration with parents, faculty and District leadership, we have developed a comprehensive, age-
appropriate curriculum to address the various requirements of this law as prescribed by AB 329.
Instruction will occur in science and physical education classes during the spring semester (exact dates of instructions are to be determined). If you are interested in learning more about the curriculum for your 7th grade student, I encourage you to attend one of the following informational meetings for parents/guardians. During each of these meeting, you will have an opportunity to preview the curriculum and ask any questions you may have. You may attend any of the following:
- at Arroyo Seco Junior High School
- at Placerita Junior High School
- at La Mesa Junior High School
- Monday, November 27, 2017, 7:00 pm at Rio Norte Junior High School
- at Sierra Vista Junior High School
- at Rancho Pico Junior High School
