After you have finished the epilogue in Hoot, please take the final test below. NOTE: THERE WILL BE NO RETAKES AS THIS IS AN OPEN BOOK TEST, SO PLEASE TAKE YOUR TIME AND READ EACH QUESTION AND POSSIBLE RESPONSE CAREFULLY.
Once you have completed the test, if you can stream or get a copy of the HOOT movie, please watch it, as this was an activity that I wanted to do with you in class. This of course is optional.

Read Chapters 20 & 21 in Hoot This is a week long assignment that will be due on Friday, May 1st, but you can turn it in anytime before then. PLEASE DO NOT TURN IT IN until you are ready to have it graded
Complete the chapters 20-21 assignment that is in the classroom section of Google Classroom
1. Create a document, copy and paste mine, OR you my use the one I provided in Google Classroom by typing your answers directly on it
2. Put your full name, class period at the top right hand corner
3. Read the assignment thoroughly, and answer the questions on the document you created or on the one I provided by restating the question in your responses. You do
not need to rewrite the questions if you create your own document. Just make sure you answer in complete sentences. :)

1. The protagonist in the novel Hoot is Mullet Fingers because the entire story was about how he tried to save the burrowing owls from destruction. They are an endangered species, and in the end, he was able to save them from certain death by recruiting the help of Beatrice, Roy, and eventually the community of Coconut Cove.

In an attempt to help alleviate all the personal emails I am having to send just a few students; I am asking that you create a document and retype these rules and then TURN IT in. HOOT: Chapter 13- Figurative Language and Imagery

Imagery is present when a writer uses his/her words to appeal to any of our five senses: sight, hearing, taste, touch or smell. The aromas of apples in the kitchen as the pies were baking. The night sky looked like charcoal briquettes on a barbecue. The fog tiptoed over the hills. The car screeched down the street in a hurry.

Passage from Hoot:
It was a calm cloudless night, and a pale sliver of moon peeked over the rooftops. Insects as thick as confetti swirled around the cowls of the streetlights. Toward the end of the block, two cats could be heard yowling at each other.

Please create a document and write either a family member, a friend, or to someone that you feel may like to receive a letter from you. It can be a grandparent, someone in a nursing home, or someone that lives alone. For example, you all know how much my grandsons mean to me, but I have not been able to see them for 2 weeks and I am not sure how soon I can see them again. They call me everyday, but many people are alone or would love to receive a letter to brighten their day. I don't not need to know who they are, I only need to see that you wrote someone a letter that you TURNED IN to Google Classroom. It is a kind gesture and can be in any language.

Write them a letter letting them know you are thinking about them. The letter should be at least a half a page, 12 font, Times New Roman, and Double spaced. Make sure you use spell-check before you TURN IT IN to me for a grade.

After completing your research, your school principal asked all students to write an argumentative essay on the topic of tablets and textbooks, so that she can gain different perspectives before making a final decision. Write an argumentative essay using the 4 sources provided in class on whether or not tablets should replace textbooks. Make sure you look over the scoring rubric prior to turning in your final essay. You may use the spell check feature as well.
