In the novel Hoot, everybody loves Mother Paula’s pancakes except the colony of cute burrowing owls that live on the building site of the new restaurant.
Directions: Using the library resources, research the burrowing owl and gather facts about it. From the research you gather, type a 3-4 paragraph explanatory essay in which you discuss the owl, citing the facts you use. Here are the questions for which you will want to find research: What are its characteristics? Where is it found? What is its habitat? What do they eat? Do their young hatch from eggs or live birth? How do they rear their young? Are they communal or solitary birds? Is it endangered, why or why not? What can be done to help them thrive? Give it a creative title.
Create the essay in Google Classroom, turn it in, and print it out.
