Assignment

Aloha, TrailBlazers!

The last day to retake any test or quiz, and the last day to turn in any missing assignments will be Wednesday, May 31 at the end of the school day (3:00).

This gives procrastinating students only a few school days to fix their work.  On Thursday/Friday, May 25/26, I will NOT be at school for medical reasons.  This leaves only 5 class days to fix things.  ALL assignments are available on this website.  Grades are always posted on Infinite Campus the same day.  If you see a missing assignment, it's missing.  Don't imaging I'm late in recording assignments.  That doesn't happen.  :)

Thank you so much for a great year.  Our students have worked so hard every day, and I'm so proud of each of them.  What a great way to end my career, as I retire in a few days.  Wish me luck with my foot surgery next week, and let's get those missing papers in and fix those unhappy test and quiz scores.

Mahalo!

P.S.  Please don't wait until the last day of the quarter to fix things.  I can't promise I'll be able to walk to class after Memorial Day weekend - though I can promise I'll try!

1.5 Graph Proportional Relationships
  • 4-question worksheet completed in class
  • p.49 (1-3, 5, 7)

Due:

Assignment

We took our first math assessment on Thursday/Friday.

Junior High math courses break scores into two categories:
Practice 30% and Assessments 70%      [In High School, it's a 20/80 split.]

With only one score in the 70% category, that little tiny score carries a huge impact... for now.  Over time, as more assessments are collected, each little event will have a smaller impact on the overall grade.

Any student in Mr. Gately's math classes will be able to retake any of Mr. Gately's assessments (not State or District-wide tests).  It will require a little extra work, but the better score will be used.  Students will need to complete an Error Analysis,  reviewing each mistake on their original assessment.  Links to a sample Error Analysis are provided on this page.  Students should use this assignment to improve and practice.  I can help them through the process.

Tests are returned the next class block, so please be patient and wait until the results are brought home before getting too worried.  The mistakes might be easily repaired.  We have until the end of the quarter to fix things.

I'm available for the students before school and during each break.  Encourage your child to visit my classroom for extra help.

Thank you!

P.S.  If you notice any missing assignments or ZERO scores, those items need to be turned in.  The deadline is the end of the quarter, but it's best if the work is completed and returned as soon as possible.
