Team Information

Team Philosophy:  Team Alpha shines as the brightest stars in the constellation of teams. As outstanding representatives of our school, we lead with purpose and pride. Like scientists researching new learning, we explore ideas with curiosity and determination. We persevere and keep going when things get tough, always focused on accomplishing our mission and getting the job done. We believe in our infinite potential and embrace our differences, knowing that together, we are unstoppable.

 

John Okenka (English):
This is my 10th year of teaching and my 2nd year at Rancho Pico.  When students leave my English class, my goal is that they feel more empowered and confident in their reading, writing, and speaking skills and that they begin to connect what they learn to the world.

Shawn Good (Science):
I grew up in the Santa Clarita Valley and attended  junior high and high school in the Hart district. This is my 20th year teaching in the district and I absolutely love my job! I have taught many years of both 7th grade science (Life Science) and 8th grade science (Physical Science). I love to see students’ curiosity come out in the classroom and am always encouraging them to ask questions and seek out answers through experimentation and/or research to be able to apply concepts to real world phenomena.
