Read the article "Big Rocks' Balancing Acts" on page 157. In My.HRW.com, go to the student e-book and to page 157. Annotate each section by highlighting sections of the text and clicking "Take a Note." The notes box will open and you should type a sentence or two summarizing that section. For each note you make, click on "My Notebook" at the bottom of the page and then click "Save." This will save the notes you took in your notebook. You should have at least 8 notes for this article. I can then check your notebook for the notes and thus give you credit for the annotation portion of the assignment. Then complete the Text Connection and Vocabulary Summary sheet for the article.

In class we have been working in groups in our Performance Assessment workbooks to set up and create arguments.  Over the next few periods, students will work together to assemble an argument for or against the above topic and then type an essay using the work they have created.
